Specialist Lending

Hard to stay up to date with lending criteria changes? Looking for alternatives to help your clients with out of the ordinary requirements? Our panel of specialist lenders –  Resimac, Heartland, First Mortgage Trust and Avanti Finance – will give you examples of typical clients and scenarios they can help you with on a daily basis. This session will be facilitated by Colleen Dennehy.

About Colleen Dennehy: Colleen Dennehy is a well-known figure in the Financial Services Industry, operating in this sector for over 20 years. She has worked across all facets including investments, mortgages and risk. Her roles have mainly been focussed around sales and working with Advisers to develop their business and grow their markets and client bases by “thinking outside the square”. She has worked for organisations such as PSIS, BNZ and AMP. Colleen also set up from scratch and ran a mortgage broking firm for 5 years. During that time she was the Inaugural recipient of the NZMBA Non-conforming lending award.

Colleen brings a wealth of experience and positivity to burn in the industry. She always has a smile and is a great networker. She is currently A network sales manager for Mike Pero building and developing their North Island network. If you do not know her personally you will know her sound as she has an infectious laugh which adds character to what can be a rather dour industry at times.

About Ben Jamieson: Ben Jamieson is a Business Development Manager with Heartland Seniors Finance in New Zealand based in Christchurch. He specialises in helping Kiwi seniors enjoy the retirement they deserve by helping them unlock the equity in their home with a reverse mortgage. Ben has worked in the reverse mortgage area in New Zealand since 2003 and is well regarded; financial advisers and solicitors often refer their clients to Ben when a reverse mortgage is being considered.

About Bruce Smith: Bruce Smith has been the Sales Manager with First Mortgage Trust (FMT) over the past 18 months. Prior to this, he had 36 years with ANZ Bank, based in the BOP, primarily in front-line lending roles, the last 10 with ANZ Commercial in Tauranga.

The non-bank lending sector continues to grow exponentially and part of Bruce’s role is the promotion of what FMT can deliver from a financing perspective to the Adviser and Aggregator networks for their clients.

About Huia Manuel: Huia joined RESIMAC in September 2015 after relocating back to New Zealand from Adelaide. Huia has a wealth of experience in the finance industry with over 10 years’ experience in banking. Huia joined RESIMAC from her most recent role with BankSA as a Business Development Manager, Branch Manager, Mobile Manager and a Residential Lending Manager. Prior to this Huia was self-employed, she owned and operated a cafe in the Adelaide Hills. Huia understands the challenge and rewards of being self-employed and hopes to add value to businesses where she can.

About Julia Winterbottom: Julia has over 25yrs experience in financial services, with 17 of those years directly associated with the Mortgage Adviser Industry in her roles as BDM for both main bank and specialist lenders.

With 7 yrs. experience in the specialist lending environment Julia has a proven track record in coaching, mentoring and developing advisers who are new to specialist lending, to enable them to diversify and grow their businesses.

She has a relentless focus on the customer service experience both from the Mortgage Adviser and end-customer perspective, this has been acknowledged with Avanti Finance winning the PAA excellence award for specialist lenders in 2016 and Julia winning the PAA – Non-Bank Lender product provider representative in 2017.

About Rose Acton-Adams: The vivacious Rose Acton-Adams has been in the Financial Services arena for fifteen years. Rose started out as a broker for five years, then moved to the role as a mobile mortgage manager with a major bank. After working with clients to help them into their homes she decided she wanted to train and grow advisers business’, so she moved to a BDM role with Mortgage Express for four years.

Rose has been part of the BDM team at Liberty Financial for the past two years, operating out of Christchurch, working with advisers to find out of the box solutions for their clients.

Rose has a relaxed approachable style, and with a wealth of knowledge, will be an asset to our panel. As she says, she loves being “Sherlock Holmes” and trying to help the adviser provide a solution for their client. In her spare time she can be seen in her garden or on the golf course or getting off the grid in her motor-home!

About Sue Griffiths: As Senior BDM, Sue Griffiths is rolling out Bluestone Mortgages to advisers across New Zealand. Recently returned home after seven years living on the Gold Coast, Sue has accrued over 30 years of experience in the finance industry on both sides of the ditch.

She started her career as Secretary of the NZMBA (now PAA), followed by BDM at PLAN NZ (now NZFSG), two roles in which she is fondly remembered. After the acquisition of PLAN NZ to the Ray White Group, she took the opportunity to work for NAB as Credit Advice Manager in Queensland, and moved her family to the Gold Coast.

Sue has also worked for ALI and had a role as Key Account Manager for Aussie Home Loans QLD.
